Since 1995 when the Construction Design & Management (1994) Regulations came into force, the Practice has undertaken the role of Planning Supervisor (now CDM Co-Ordinator) on many projects, ensuring that Health and Safety procedures are correctly implemented.
The fundamental principles that underlie the revised Construction (Design and Management) regulations 2007 come from the perspective of the overall management of safety, from project inception to eventual removal of the structure.
To achieve this goal, the following key objectives are embodied in the approach.
- Safety should be considered systematically stage-by-stage being planned, managed and co-ordinated from the project outset
- The involvement of all who can contribute to safety and health throughout the project by formal communications and information sharing
- The production of a record of information that will be of use to parties involved in future works or activities.
- Adequate resources to be provided to achieve the objectives.
