A Structural Engineer is responsible for the structural design and evaluation of anything that supports or carries a load, such as the walls and floors of a building. Through mathematical calculations a Structural Engineer can ensure that a building will be able to withstand the pressures of use that it will be subjected to. Within England and Wales the majority of construction work is covered by Building Regulations. All but the most minor building works must conform to these standards. The regulations deal with all aspects of construction such as, the actual structure, health and safety, energy consumption and accessibility. It is a legal requirement to make an appropriate Building Regs. application

As consulting Structural Engineers we offer comprehensive advice across a wide spectrum:
- Extension
- Loft Conversions
- Garage Conversions
- Domestic Cellar Conversions
- Removing Internal and External Walls, beams, columns, etc.
- Bay Windows and Chimneys
- New Drainage
Structural Engineers are also consulted where there is concern over a structural element of a building, these may for example be identified through cracking or bulging of a wall. As Party Wall Surveyors you may also need our services if you are planning on undertaking work on your property which may have an effect on neighbouring properties. See party wall matters. |
