Our residential and commercial surveys provide detailed and accurate representations of your property and can be carried out before, during and/or after your construction project. We will produce plans and models showing all the structural elements and architectural features used for verification, refurbishment, space planning, area calculations, certification and record purposes.

What will you receive?

Post-inspection, Riddwood Consulting Engineers will issue detailed and accurate building surveys including but not limited to:

  • Floor plans
  • Elevations
  • Cross sections
  • Roof plans
  • Ceiling plans
  • Steel structures and connections

Each element of the building can be surveyed independently or as a part of a fully connected co-ordinated survey to a common grid and level datum.

Industrial Power Plant at Slough: After a comprehensive survey Riddwood produced a detailed survey highlighting all structure elements within the floor space of the two-storey building. Upon receipt, the client also appointed Riddwood to provide structural design calculations and fabrication drawings for a proposed mezzanine floor.

What information is included in a building survey?

The amount of detail included in a building survey depends on your requirements, and may vary for the purposes of design, planning, calculations. The structural elements such as walls, columns and beams, are the most important and shown on the floor plans, elevations and sections. All features such as doors, windows, services are then added with floor levels, heights and descriptive text to give a clear representation. Riddwood can tailor a survey to meet your specific time and budget needs whilst collecting the information required to progress your project.

Large Industrial Warehouse, Camberley. Riddwood have completed a detailed survey of the existing warehouse, detailing the structural element, recording sizes and orientation and recording the area in detail for accurate planning with regard to space-proofing, proposed services and additional planned structures.

What equipment do we use for a building survey and how we deliver the project?

Riddwood Consulting Engineers use a hybrid suite of modern and traditional technology to gather the required information. We employ the latest Total Stations and GPS technology from Leica, the World leader in measuring devices. With the addition of Leica's SmartNet products we fully incorporate ordnance digital data information, allowing you to comply fully and accurately with planning constraints, Ordnance Survey requirements and allowing you to get the most from your allowed space.

Using the data harvested during an on-site survey, Riddwood Consulting Engineers produce as-built drawings, schematics and models in-house and to the scale and format requested by our clients.

We operate across the architecture, construction and engineering industries and work with a number of programmes which support the widely used .dwg, .dxf, .pdf formats.

We can import the information into Autodesk programmes we use in-house such as Revit, Civils3D or AutoCAD and complete civil and structural design. If you simply require visual representations, these can be issued in AutoCAD, SketchUp or other compatible formats.
